Mount Wutai ("Five Plateau Mountain"), also known as Wutai Mountain or Qingliang Shan, is a Buddhist sacred site located at the headwaters of river Qingshui, in the Chinese northeastern province of Shanxi, surrounded by a cluster of flat-topped peaks (North, South, East, West, and Central). The North peak, called Beitai Ding or Yedou Feng, is the highest (3.061 m), and indeed the highest point in northern China.The site is home to many of China's most important monasteries and temples. Mount Wutai host over 53 sacred monasteries.

Nanshan Temple is a large temple in Mount W¨³t¨¢i, first built in the Yuan Dynasty. The whole temple comprises seven terraces, divided into three parts. The lower three terraces are named Jile Temple; the middle terrace is called Shande Hall; the upper three terraces are named Youguo Temple. Other major temples include Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple and Pusading Temple.Other important temples inside Mount Wutai include: Shouning Temple, Bishan Temple, Puhua Temple, Dailuo Ding, Qixian Temple, Shifang Tang, Shuxiang Temple, Guangzong Temple, Youguo Temple, Guanyin Dong, Longhua Temple, Luomuhou Temple, Jinge Temple, Zhanshan Temple, Wanfo Ge, Guanhai Temple, Zhulin Temple, Jifu Temple, Gufo Temple, etc.Outer Mount Wutai temples include: Yanqing Temple, Nanchan Temple, Mimi Temple, Foguang Temple, Yanshan Temple, Zunsheng Temple, Guangji Temple, etc.

Day 1, Arrival Datong - Wutaishan (L+D)
On your arrival (train or flight), local tour guide will meet you there based on the info you offered and take you to start the exploring of Datong. We will drive 50min to reach the famous YunGang Grottoes, one of the world culture heritage, 16km far away from city, and stay there for 2hr to visit the caves, murals and carvings. 
After lunch, we arrange the Suspending Temple visit (also called Hanging Temple) 2hrs driving away from Grottos.
In the afternoon, we will directly drive 2.5hr to Wutaishan area, check in Hua Hui Hotel (4*) and stay there overnight.

- Yungang Grottoes: A treasure house of rare and splendid Chinese sculptures enjoys worldwide fame. These grottoes are the main reason most people make it to Datong. The grottoes contain over 50,000 Buddihist statues and stretch for about 1 km east to west.

- Suspending Temple(Hanging Monastery): This monastery is just outside the town of Hunyuan, 65km south-east of Datong. Built precariously on sheer cliffs above Jinlong Canyon,the monastery dates back more than 1400 years. Its halls and pavilions were built along the contours of the cliff face using the natural hollows and outcrops. The buildings are connected by corridors, bridges and boardwalks and contain bronze, iron and stone statues of gods and buddhas.

Day 2, Wutaishan - Datong (B, L)
After breakfast, guide will accompany you to vist this Buddhism Shrine - Wutaishan Temple Cluster. We will walk along the construction sequence to worship or visit: XianTong Temple - one of the Chinese Buddhism Inheritor leader, Manjusri Temple - formal served as Royal temple, watching the exterior image of Big White Buddha Pagoda - symbol of the Mountain, WanFo Temple - commonly known as Wu Ye Temple, and ShuXiang Temple - one of the Zen Meditation Site, which was initially built in the time of Yuan Dynasty, and rebuilt in Ming. 
Have some free time on the mountain.

Drive back to Datong city after lunch. We can send you to the hotel or bus station or railway station.

- Buddhist Temples in Mt. Wutaishan: It is said that this mountain, one of the four holy Buddhist Mountains, is the dwelling place of Manjusri Bodhisattva. 360 temples were built here dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) but now only 47 of them exist. Over the years, incalculable numbers of pilgrims and visitors have come here. Among these magnificent temples, five are the most famous: Xiantong Temple, TayuanTemple, Manjusri Temple (Summit Bodhisattva), Shuxiang Temple, and Luohou Temple.

- Mt. Wutaishan: Being the most holy land of Chinese Buddhism, lay in Wutai County in Xinzhou Region, Shanxi Province, it is rated on both the list of the first group of national scenic spots designated by the State Council, and the list of the Top 10 scenic spots in Shanxi Province. It is as famous as Mt.Emeishan in Sichuan Province, Mt.Putuoshan in Zhejiang Province, and Mt.Jiuhuashan in Anhui Province, all of which are renowned as the four sacred Buddhist Mountains.
