Day 1: Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, PRC and check-in at or after 2pm at the Holiday Inn Express Beijing Dongzhimen near the popular Sanlitun Village (or a similar hotel).

7pm: Uri Beijing coordinator will welcome you in the lobby of the hotel and will assist the group to a traditional Beijing dinner for group orientation.

Day 2: Beijing - Pyongyang
AM:  Meet the group at the lobby of the hotel to receive DPRK visas and for group transportation to the Beijing Capital International Airport.

PM:  Fly to Pyongyang, capital of the DPRK and home to many of the country's most famous cultural sites. Local North Korean tour guides greet you at the airport. Your stay in Pyongyang will be at the famous Yanggakdo International Hotel, complete with a casino, karaoke bar, sauna and other amenities. En route to the hotel, stop at the Arch of Triumph, the world's largest triumphal arc. Check into the hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner. Optional evening activity: Get on some rides at the Kaeson Youth Amusement Park, a popular DPRK amusement park.

Day 3: Pyongyang City Tour
AM:  Attend a viewing at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, which houses the preserved bodies of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il (formal dress is required for this event). Visit the Grand People's Study House, Pyongyang's 100,000m2 central library where you can listen to local music, see what's new on the reading list, and even sit in on foreign language classes. Continue your tour of Pyongyang by walking through the Kim Il Sung square. Stop in at the Foreign Languages Bookshop for DPRK souvenirs and trinkets.

PM:  After lunch, your next Pyongyang stop is at the iconic Tower of Juche Idea, a 150-meter granite monument dedicated to the Juche principle developed by Kim Il Sung. Enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the tower if you wish. Take a ride on the Pyongyang Metro, the world's deepest metro taking you approximately 360 feet underground. We leave the rest of the afternoon flexible to allow participants to see the Pyongyang circus or the symphony, or any other event that is taking place that afternoon. In the evening, enjoy a stroll along the Taedong River Promenade and finish the evening with a BBQ dinner on the Taedong river.

Day 4: Myohyangsan
AM:  Drive to Mount Myohyangsan (160km / 2 hour drive), a UNESCO designated ¡°world biosphere reserve¡±. Take an optional hike up to Manphok Valley (for those hiking up, there are handrails and carved out steps; please bring comfortable shoes). Have a picnic in the mountain (if weather permits).

PM:  In the afternoon, visit the International Friendship Exhibition, a national treasure house that contains gifts given to the Kim leaders in over 150 rooms. At the top of the building, look out into the mountains and enjoy the views over tea/coffee. Visit the historic Buddhist Pohyon Temple, built in 1042 but rebuilt between 1441 and 1765. Journey back to Pyongyang, where we will take you for a walk along the newly renovated Changjon Street and where we'll enjoy a Korean dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5: Pyongyang City Tour
AM: Start the day at the Mansudae Grand Monument. This important site is famous for its large, bronze statutes of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Visitors are sometimes asked to follow local custom by bowing and laying flowers at the feet of the statues. Visit the Mangyongdae Native House, where late president Kim Il Sung was born. Stop in at the Mansudae Art Studio where you can watch local artists creating art; you can even purchase original pieces in the exhibition hall (in the latter case, please come prepared as pieces can range upwards in the 1,000s and no ATM service is available; DHL service available).

PM: Learn about the Korean War through the perspective of the North Koreans at the newly renovated Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum and the USS Pueblo in its new spot (the ¡°American Spy Ship¡± captured in 1968). Watch a children's performance at the Pyongyang or Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace, an after-school extra-curricular facility for children to learn dance, art, sports and foreign languages.

Day 6: Kaesong / DMZ
AM:  Bright and early, depart for Kaesong, the ancient capital of the Koryo dynasty and home to 12 newly appointed UNESCO World Heritage sites (approximately 2 hour drive by coach). Visit the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea (which ironically is one of the most heavily militarized places in the world). Participate in tour by a North Korean military officer who will take you to the ¡°front lines¡± between North and South Korea, to the building where the Armistice Agreement ending the Korean War in 1953 was signed, and to the neutral blue houses where diplomatic discussions are sometimes held. Photo opportunities will be available here.

PM:  Enjoy a traditional Kaesong style meal Pansanggi for lunch. Take a quick tour of the Koryo History Museum and pick up the best DPRK stamps and postcards at the Koryo Stamp Shop. Visit the Sonjuk Bridge and the Mausoleum of King Wanggon, two of the new UNESCO World Heritage sites. En route back to Pyongyang, visit the folk city of Sariwon and the Migok Cooperative Farm to learn about new agricultural developments in the country. Finish the tour over pizza and pasta with our local Korean guides at Pyongyang's own Italian Specialty Restaurant.
