Day 1:Beijing
The tour guide would be awaiting with a welcoming sign featuring our logo at the airport before the plane touches down. There would be no itinerary arranged for the rest of the day, considering your need to soothe the fatigue from the long-haul flight.

 

Day 2:Beijing
The first day of the trip would start with a visit to the very heart of the country's capital, Tiananmen Square, a magnificent square extending in front of the Forbidden City, which has been the power center for nearly six centuries and has witnessed 24 emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties carried out their administration, followed by a pleasant lunch and a delightful afternoon in Summer Palace, the spectacular private garden for royal members only back in the imperial times.

Day 3:Beijing
This day's excursion begins with the Temple of Heaven, the sacred venue where the Ming/Qing Emperors performed major sacrificial and praying ceremonies for good fortune, prosperity and blessings. After that, embark on a 1.5 to 2-hour ride to the leg of Great Wall situated in Mutianyu, a not-so-overcrowded section of the Great Wall which extends over 2km but features cable car up and down the mountainous part. When the day draws to the end, a little detour would be taken on the way back, to the Bird's Nest stadium and Water Cube, the two ahead-of-the-time structures famed for not only holding most games during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but also for their world-recognized, innovating appearances.

Day 4:Beijing - Datong
Take a trip to Lama Temple (better known as Yonghe Temple in Chinese), an over 300 years old temple and monastery for the Tibetan Buddhism established during the Qing Dynasty at the north eastern corner of Beijing. Later, a Hutong Tour on rickshaw around the most original and characteristic neighborhood, after which you would be taken to the station for a 6-hour soft sleeper train to Datong.

Day 5:Datong
Today pay a visit to the incredible Hanging Temple, an unbelievably spectacular architectural miracle on a cliff face in Mount Hengshan; and the imposing Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. Then drive back to Datong.

Day 6:Datong - Taiyuan
Explore Datong which boasts series of eminent attractions, among which the most prestigious one is of course the Yungang Grottoes, one of the ¡°Four Grottoes¡± in China, which encompasses approximately 51,000 Buddha statues of different sizes and shapes in more than 250 grottoes and caves. Next on the schedule is the Nine-Dragon Screen which has a history of over 600 years, and Shanhua Monastery which is a grand Buddhist temple built during the Tang Dynasty. Then transfer to the railway station to take the soft sleeper train to Taiyuan. Our local guide will pick you up and escort you to the hotel.

Day 7:Taiyuan - Pingyao
Explore the 2,700-year-old Pingyao Ancient Town today. We'll visit Rishengchang Draft Bank which is hailed as the first Chinese-style private bank, the spectacular Ancient City Wall as well as the dynamic Ming and Qing Street.

Day 8:Pingyao - Taiyuan
Depart from TaiyuanIn the morning, we'll visit Qiao Family Compound, which is dubbed as the epitome of the unique architectural style in North China during the Qing Dynasty; and Shuanglin Monastery, which boasts a long history of over 1,400 years. On the way to Taiyuan, visit Jinci Temple, which is famous for its grand ancient buildings and superior sculptural works. After that you would be given a ride to the airport for your homeward flight.
