Drive for 3 hours, passing some pretty cascades over sheer cliffs, and progressively higher and steeper mountains. Built as a model communist town, this attractive city perched high on a mountain was deemed ※unsafe§ by government engineers and evacuated. 10 years later, the town still hadn't fallen into the river, so about a thousand members of the Lisu and Nu ethnic groups returned to live in the abandoned buildings. Overnight in Wuli village.

Day 6:  Qiu Na tong-Dimaluo (B, L, D)
Drive 10 minutes to the entrance to Qiunatong, then hike for 2 hours to Qiunatong village.  In the afternoon, continue driving north along the Nu River to Dimaluo (2800m), a conglomeration of twelve natural villages, with a population of just over 2,300 people, comprising of Nu, Tibetan, Lisu, and Dulong groups, most of which are Catholics.
