Bogda Mountain is the highest peak in the Bodga Ola Range, an eastern sub-range of the great Tien Shan range. Although it is dwarfed by the 7000m plus high peaks (Pik Pobedy 7495 m and Khan Tengri 7010 m) in the main range of Tien Shan, its close proximity to a provincial capital makes it a popular mountain for Chinese mountaineers.

Despite its moderate height, Bogda Mountain is a difficult peak as most of its slopes are in excess of 70 degrees. The permanently snow-capped summit crowns an east-west trending ridge with 7 peaks over 5000 meters; a large glacier flows by its feet. The standard northeast ridge route is the only successful route ever to climb Mount Bodga. It is a basic snow/ice climb with an average gradient of about 60 degrees. At the foot of Mount Bogda, the man-made Lake Bogda (Lake Tianchi, or "Heavenly Lake" in Chinese), elevation 1980m, is a popular tourist attraction for boating, picnicking, horseback riding, and Kazakh ethnic culture.

Day 1 Urumqi Arrival
Welcome to Xinjiang! Your tour guide will meet you at the Urumqi Airport. Then be escorted to your hotel in a private vehicle. The rest of today is yours to explore the mysterious city on the Silk Road.

Day 2 Urumqi 每 Heaven Lake ( B,L )
After breakfast, drive to visit the beautiful Heaven lake. We will take a 2-3 hour vehicle ride up a mountain and across desert to reach Heaven lake (1,980 m/6,496 ft), a small alpine lake surrounded by lush spruce forests and snow-capped mountains. We will hike along the lake to get to the other end where we will camp.

Day 3 Heaven Lake to Dapingtai (3,200 m/10,499 ft)
We will start the day early to begin our trek to Bogda Peak. We will trek through forests and meadows for 5 to 6 hours, arriving at Dapingtai, where we will spend the night.

Day 4 Dapingtai - Base Camp at Bogda Peak (3,800 m/12,467 ft)
As we make our ascent, the surrounding scenery will change gradually from dense forests to rocky hills. We will approach the snow line and the peak 6-7 hours from the start of the trek.

Day 5 Trekking around Base Camp
Today we will trek around base camp .In the morning we will visit the glaciers, the main water source in the area.We will wrap up early today to prepare for the long trek tomorrow.

Day 6 Base camp to Sankecha
On the way you will see the xuelian, or snow lotus, a rare plant indigenous to the region.

Day 7 Sankecha to Turpan
A 2.5-hour drive will take us to Turpan, an entirely different world from where we have spent the last week. Located 150 m (492 ft) below sea level, Turpan is one of the lowest spots in the world as well as the hottest and driest in China. It is famed for its grapes and melons. The town was a former garrison of the Chinese army and an important stop on the Silk Road. We will visit Gaochang, a nearby town which was once the capital of the Uighurs, and later on the Grape Valley, where we could drop by at a winery or sample some of their grapes.

Day 8 Urumqi Departure
Drive back to Urumqi ,then transfer to the airport for your return flight to next destination.
